New Lent resources available now from Church Urban Fund!
Church Urban Fund has produced a range of prayers, and activities for adults and children for Lent which serve as a focus for reflection and highlight the very real impact of poverty in England.
In her introduction to the 2009 prayer calendar, Grace Sheppard writes that "praying for someone is an act of friendship; a reaching out; a wanting the best for a person or community". We hope that, through these prayers and resources, you will better understand the lives of some of the people who are most affected by social, emotional and economic hardship, and of the people who work with them to build hope and share God's love.
2009 Lent Calendar has a collection of photos and prayers from projects that we support, with a thought-provoking forward by Lady (Grace) Sheppard, sharing praise and struggles with us, these prayers are a real insight into the lives of people living and working alongside the poorest communities in England.
Pray, Act, Give Prayer leaflet encourages action to help your community during each week of Lent and Holy Week, from volunteering with a local project to taking time to pray for people in need - each week focuses on different groups of people who need practical, financial or spiritual support.
Activities for children bring the Easter story alive. Each set contains a sheet for Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter Day - there is a simple art activity on each sheet along with a story from one of the youth projects that we support, and a Bible reading to set the scene.
Versions of the resources which you can you can download and print out yourself are available here.
