WELCOME

Welcome to the Faith to Engage EM website originally established by East Midland Churches Forum.

The East Midlands Churches' Forum was established in 1998 at the request of Church Leaders in the Region and in response to an initiative of Churches Together in England (CTE). Its primary purpose, to support the Churches' representation to Governmental bodies across the region including local authorities, councils, regional bodies and agencies such as Health, Equalities, Education and Planning, was pursued energetically for the 13 years of Regional Government.

In June 2011 the Forum was wound up following the government's decision to dismantle regional government and the subsequent decline of most regional infrastructure and Our Final Report can be viewed or downloaded from the Annual Reports page on this site.

HOWEVER there is of course, no less to do in the area of public and social engagement by all faith communities and my task over the next few months as the Partner in this region for Faith to Engage is to seek to support and encourage all that is, or could be happening.

In addition to the high commitment flowing from our various faiths, and individual worship centres, we are assured that faith groups continue to be invited by government at every level to play a full part in their communities.  The work of Faith to Engage continues in the region and this site and our data bases will be maintained to assist that work. Please do follow the links to see the sort of thing that can be done by local groups and churches and seek our help in anything you are trying to do in your area.

Through the various pages and links on this site we hope you:

  • will see the importance and potential of the churches' involvement with Government and Regeneration of Our Region
  • will help us form a truly informed and representative Christian view
  • will comment on our thinking from the perspective of any interest group engaged with our regions organizations
